Essential Tools
If you want to spend as little as possible on microscopy, you may be disappointed to know that there are a few tools that you absolutely need to start out with. If you want to see what other tools you can invest in, you can look here, but anyway, here is the list.
Microscope slides
Microscope slides are the single most important thing to have other than the microscope itself. It is with these slides that you will place and secure your specimen on your microscope. Your microscope may have come with some slides, but you should keep in mind that you have to throw out your slides whenever you're done with them (or save them for later) and never reuse them for something else. You cannot reuse them because the specimen might have left some small bits of itself behind when you take it off and, in some cases, it may be unclean to touch.
Tape
Tape will be used to secure your coverslips to your slides. Without tape, your coverslips could actually fall off your slide and take the specimen with it.
Cover slips
Cover slips are the butter to the microscope slides bread. You will be using coverslips to enhance and secure the specimen on the slide.
